COVID pandemic. Inflation. Skyrocketing gas prices. War. All harsh realities impacting us. Over the past 3 years, the world has faced challenge after challenge, each one seemingly packing a punch larger than the one before. It almost becomes cliche' to say 'this year is more critical than ever before' as we attempt to raise funds for the Alabama Kidney Foundation. However, the events mentioned above are reality which will affect the ability of volunteers to walk and raise funds this year, and our kidney patients significantly (transportation costs, medical needs support, utility bills, etc).

As a result of a changing workplace landscape where several employees opt to work from home, the ability to form teams and rally around the normal fundraising efforts has become a different challenge. This will be our first year since 2019 to fully get back out to fundraise and walk together as a team.

The 2022 Birmingham Kidney Walk will be held August 13, at Veterans Park in Hoover, Alabama. We are giving ourselves 4 months to fundraise and build our walk team. The AKF's Birmingham Regional team's goal this year is $155,000. Our APSO Walk team's goal is $8,000. We're asking you to PLEASE donate this year to help offset the impacts of the challenges being faced by our dialysis patients.
