Welcome to Melissa Peak's Personal Page for Kidney Lovers' Team
Hello!
Thank you for visiting this page. I have had dear friends and close family members impacted by kidney issues. My grandfather was in full kidney failure and had to do dialysis three days a week. Even though I was a child when I witnessed him go through this, I remember how hard it was on his body as well as how difficult it was for my mother and grandmother to care for him.
This is also a cause that I am supporting in association with the Montgomery County Commission. Please join us and our commitment to the Alabama Kidney Foundation by making a donation to The Montgomery County Team (Kidney Lovers) who will be walking in Memory of the late Chairman of the County Commission, Elton Dean, Sr. The 2024 Montgomery Kidney Walk Celebration will be Saturday, May 4th at 8am at the Riverwalk Stadium. Unfortunately, I will be at another fundraising event, but I have attended this event in the past and I assure you that it isn't one that you will want to miss.
The team is also hosting a Touch-A-Truck fundraiser for this cause at Sweet Creek Farm Market in Pike Road, AL on April 27th from 10a-2p. Come out with your family, friends, and kids to see the really cool vehicles used by law enforcement agencies and local fire departments. The event is free, but are so graciously requesting donations of any amount. I will be on site assisting with this event.
I believe the mission of the Alabama Kidney Foundation, I trust in their dedication to Alabama’s kidney patients in need, and I support the Foundation.
Some truths about the Alabama Kidney Foundation and the needs of our local patients:
• Alabama ranks number one per capita in the nation for kidney failure
• Over 400,000 Alabamians are currently living with kidney disease
• Over 14,000 Alabamians require multiple weekly dialysis treatments to survive
• The Alabama Kidney Foundation is state-based – your donation stays local
• The AKF is the ONLY Alabama resource for financial & assistance for kidney patients
I hope that you will partner with the AKF by considering a tax deductible donation. The AKF will mail your thank you tax letter as soon as we receive your donation. When you give to the Kidney Walk, you can feel secure that the AKF will manage your gift in the same spirit it was given, for those in need in our community!
